Sylwia specialises in commercial, construction, civil, administrative and public-procurement law. and concentrates on providing multifaceted legal advice for infrastructure and investment projects. For more than 14 years, she worked at a leading Polish construction company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, where she advised on all strategic areas of operations, eventually holding the position of Head of Legal. Sylwia has years of experience in providing legal advice directly related to the implementation of construction contracts, construction disputes and enforcement of collateral agreements. Her work includes experience with complex court proceedings related to payments after withdrawal from infrastructure contracts; civil engineering including projects with EU financing, and construction disputes over increased compensation, amendments and invalidation of agreements (based on a rebus sic stantibus clause or an increase in a lump-sum payment). During her years of work as an in-house lawyer, Sylwia gained experience in providing legal services to large international enterprises. She successfully uses this experience to work in conflict resolution, help to launch mediation and prepare settlements of multimillion-zloty disputes. Her work has led to numerous settlements between contractors and investors, including public investors such as Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). Sylwia’s experience also covers matters related to multimillion-zloty construction contracts under public procurement law, including FIDIC contracts, and on resolving disputes between consortium members and subcontractors. She has also worked on execution of infrastructure and investment projects, drafting and verifying contracts (including FIDIC contracts and agreements implemented by newly created special-purpose vehicles) and preparing agreements and legal analyses for the manufacturing, finance and real estate sectors. Sylwia advises on aspects of public procurement law, at every step of the contracting process, including on the introduction of legal protections for both contractors and investors. She represents clients before the National Appeals Chamber. In her practice Sylwia is also responsible for corporate oversight and compliance, covering security and data protection, including GDPR implementation.
Sylwia graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Her master’s thesis focused on contemporary transformations of the state in the legal culture of the West. She’s a lawyer who understands business and people, with outstanding negotiating and interpersonal skills. Sylwia is a member of the Warsaw Bar Association.
